The most beautiful, elegant concept of which I can conceive is the simple, logical conclusion that every living thing you see around you, from your fellow hominids to other animals to each plant, fungus, and microbe (and everything in between) has been here since the very beginning of life on this planet. Each can trace its lineage back to a single ancestral organism. If, at any point, the line between you, or anything else alive today, and that ancient common ancestor were broken, you (or it) wouldn’t be here.

At the atomic level, our interconnectedness with other things extends even wider, to include the abiotic, but on a molecular level (and all macro levels), there is so little distinction between ourselves and any other living thing that I cannot abide by philosophies that promote or focus upon our slight differences at the expense of embracing and celebrating our sameness………

Nothing that has happened since the Big Bang requires any sort of “deity” to explain, and so to involve one in the discussion is a cop-out, simple and plain. I’ve no time for the “argument from personal incredulity.” If you must adopt a god into your mentality due to neurophysiological compulsions (which were likely not your own doing, but those of those wonderful folks which were responsible for your environment during formative stages of your brain), perhaps Gravity fits the bill. It’s mysterious, it works on all super-micro levels up to, and including, the cosmic, and none of this would have ever happened without it.

Did you read this far? I love you.
